What is a community museum in your region? Survey

We invite you to participate in a research survey about the scope and perception of the concept of ‘community museum’. Link to survey hereOur overarching aim is to understand the concept in different contexts, and the study will conclude with a publically-accessible report containing the anonymised data, including quotations, but excluding any personal information supplied by the respondents. We are interested in both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. As defined by UNESCO:

“Cultural heritage does not end at monuments and collections of objects. It also includes traditions or living expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants, such as oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe or the knowledge and skills to produce traditional crafts.”

Participation by completing the survey is completely voluntary but implies participant consent to the project’s use of demographic data and quotations. When possible answers are provided to the closed-ended questions, they have been listed in alphabetical order. Please select any number of answers. Rank your answers in order of priority with 1 being the highest priority.  This study is being conducted by the University of St Andrews, with scientific direction provided by the EU-LAC-MUSEUMS project Steering Committee. The survey and data will be maintained by The Museums, Galleries and Collections Institute (MGCI), University of St Andrews. It will be disseminated through the International Council of Museums (ICOM) International Museum Day events, and the project website: http://www.eulacmuseums.net/.

This survey of 20 questions should take you about 15-20 minutes to complete. Thank you very much for taking part.
